Star Trek Into Darkness on Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD

One of the best movies for 2013 was clearly Star Trek Into Darkness which was fun, Star Trek-ish, but not the classic Star Trek we know and love. If you can get by that fact, the movies was actually quite enjoyable in its own right. It’s not canon, but it was action-packed and a fun jaunt with characters as their younger selves. It’s now out on Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD, so if you haven’t seen it yet, now’s the time.

The plot is fairly straightforward with lots of references to various Star Trek events in the past:

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

So, if your looking to watch something that’s lots of fun, try out the new Star Trek movie series. In my opinion, it’s not true Star Trek, but I’m a classic trekker with some Next Gen thrown in; however, it was quite enjoyable as a movie, and Kirk, Spock & McCoy are always fun to be around even in their younger years.
